Gelatos! Have you seen them? Have you played with them yet? They are f.u.n. Watch Shari Caroll do some simple art journaling with Gelatos here.

Dyan Reaveley is such a fun artist to watch on video. I love her personality that shines through in everything she does. This ghosting technique she does using her Dylusions spray inks is one of my favorites. Click here.

This is a fun introduction to mono printing with a Gelli Plate. I have recently started playing with a Gelli plate...you can spend hours (and hours) just playing. If you have crafty children...they will love this too. BTW, cheap paint works great (like the $.69 stuff...go wild! It was one of the most fun things I have ever done with paint)!

Playdough recipe. This is the most wonderful dough I have ever played with...including the store brand! My three-year old is ecstatic! here  Follow up note: it is still her favorite dough! She takes it with her to her friends' houses because they all want to play with it instead of Playdough. It is softer and doesn't dry out quickly. And you can make it any color you want.

Christy Tomlinson is my current favorite mixed media artist! I am fascinated by her process! This is one of my favorite of her videos. Have fun watching!

Hello Yellow

I have a quick card to show you...well, quick for you! I designed the birdcage on the card myself with the Silhouette software. I spent so long designing it, my husband was muttering something about my mistress...and what do you call the male equivalent of a mistress....poor guy :). Then I used the Silhouette software to design the card...it took me forever, but once everything was cut out, it went together super fast. Wow! I am really liking this machine and software!

The Recipe:

Does the base card look familiar? It should! I turned the card from the last post on it's side to accommodate the birdcage. Take a quick look here. The birdcage is my design, sprayed with Glimmer Mist. The bird image is from the Silhouette library, an Echo Park design that I welded to a small rectangle to get the "perch" look. I sprayed that image with Glimmer Mist(s) also. I glued the "hello" to the banner and then glittered it to soften the lines just a little. The little bow-tie is actually the cut out from the card, and the flower is made from a Silhouette library file that has a page full of flowers to cut out at once (45 nesting flowers by Valerie Foster). I sprayed it with Glimmer Mist and added a jewel in the center. The paper is My Mind's Eye II.

It needs something more, don't you think? I will have to think about it for a couple days. Got any ideas?
