When I saw the tag Mr. Holtz did this month(October 2013) I knew it would just be plain laziness if I didn’t play along! As he said, this was a technique that was covered in Creative Chemistry 102…and I had not done it yet (but had bought ALL the supplies <cough>). And I was not ready to put away my new Halloween stamp set…so, here’s Scary Pete.

This chalkboard effect using Antiquities Frosted Crystal embossing powder is very fun. I used a black Ranger tag, the Apothecary stamp set, and yellow sidewalk chalk (it’s what I had!).  Easy, simple, very cool.

I had to give him some pirate bling…I grew up with the movie Goonies (it’s a family favorite)!

Thanks for giving me another nudge to try out this technique Mr. Holtz! And thank YOU for reading my blog. For more information on this tag, check in with Tim Holtz on his blog.

Just a note…I tried this technique first with the Santa face from Letters to Santa…it was scarier than Scary Pete. More on the disturbing side of scary. Santa+chalkboard= not pretty.

As always, have fun crafting!
